South Sudan: Building Hope

South Sudan, the world’s youngest nation, gained its independence from Sudan on July 9, 2011. Since then, its people have faced the immense challenge of building a country amid ongoing conflict and political instability.

This photography project captures the resilience of South Sudanese communities—both at home and in the diaspora—who continue to invest in the dream of a peaceful, united nation. From returning exiles to hopeful youth, the images tell a story of struggle, pride, and the quiet strength of those determined to shape their country’s future.

In a land still healing, these photographs bear witness to hope in motion.
